Axis Bank statement analyser: Excel in, ITR-ready report out
Axis Bank narrations do something genuinely useful: UPI rows are typically tagged UPI/P2A for payments to people and UPI/P2M for payments to merchants. That single marker does half of a CA's classification work, and Greenote Lite honours it — person-to-person transfers and merchant spends land in different buckets before the party ledger is even built.
How to export your Axis Bank statement as Excel or CSV
- 1Log in to Axis internet banking and open the statement view for the account — usually under Accounts.
- 2Set the date range to cover the period you are auditing.
- 3Download as XLS or CSV; in most portal versions these sit alongside the PDF option.
- 4Upload the file as downloaded — Axis-specific extras like the initiating-branch column are handled automatically.
Menu names shift between netbanking versions, so treat the steps above as a guide — the constant is the format: take the Excel, XLS or CSV download, not the PDF. Greenote Lite does not read PDF statements; the full Greenote desktop app (coming soon) will.
What Greenote Lite does with an Axis statement
Axis particulars are slash-delimited and comparatively regular, which the engine turns into a clean report:
- UPI/P2A and UPI/P2M markers are read directly, separating personal transfers from merchant payments — a distinction most banks force you to infer row by row.
- Particulars typically pack the reference, counterparty, bank and remark between slashes; the engine keeps the party name and drops the transaction reference.
- Cheque-clearing rows (BRN-CLG-CHQ style particulars) are recognised as cheque transactions and keep their instrument numbers.
- ECOM PUR and POS particulars carry the merchant name; spends are grouped per merchant, so a year of card swipes reads as a ranked list instead of 900 rows.
- Extra columns such as the initiating branch are skipped gracefully rather than breaking the upload.
The download is a four-sheet Excel workbook: a party ledger of who paid whom, every transaction categorised and named, a category summary, and an ITR summary with AIS/SFT flags. See why the party ledger comes first or the full statement-to-ITR workflow.
Axis statement questions
P2A is person-to-account — money moved to an individual's account. P2M is person-to-merchant — a payment to a business's UPI. Greenote Lite uses the marker to separate personal transfers from merchant spends in the category summary.
The XLS or CSV statement download from internet banking. Both typically carry the same particulars column the engine parses. PDF statements are not supported in Lite.
No. The engine detects the transaction table and the columns that matter — date, particulars, debit, credit, balance — and skips the rest, so Axis-specific extras don't break anything.

Your first statement is free — the trial processes the first 50 transactions so you can judge the quality end to end. No card, no signup wall, and the file is deleted the moment your report is ready.
